FTP is an abbreviation for File Transfer Protocol – a pretty popular way to transfer website files between a computer and a server. With an FTP program like CuteFTP or FileZilla, you can establish a connection to the server and see its content in one pane, while the files on your PC will be shown in another pane within the main program window. All it takes to send files or whole directories in either direction is to select them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is used by plenty of users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each of them can be limited to access just one folder on the server, so a designer, for instance, can do their task without being able to access any other directory in the website hosting account. Furthermore, the presence of different FTP accounts will also enable you to create multiple Internet sites with web design applications such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage and to upload them to their corresponding directories on the server.
FTP Accounts in Cloud Website Hosting
You can create as many FTP accounts as you want with any of the cloud website hosting offered by us, since we have chosen not to restrict this feature. Thus, you can have multiple websites simultaneously or grant other people access to different folders. Once a certain task has been done and you wouldn’t like that person to be able to access your website files anymore, you can change the password for the specific FTP account or you can just remove that account with a couple of mouse clicks and quit worrying about someone connecting to it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared packages, will allow you to check the full list of the active FTP accounts shown alphabetically. It takes only one click of the mouse to administer different options for any of them – to update the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to create a separate FTP account for each of them, as we haven’t set a restriction on this feature with any of our semi-dedicated server packages. You can do this via the FTP section of our simple-to-navigate Hepsia hosting Control Panel where you can also check the complete list of all the FTP accounts that you have set up, along with the folder that each one can connect to. If needed, you will be able to update the password for a particular account or to edit its access path with several mouse clicks. You can also delete an account effortlessly if you don’t need it anymore – for instance, if you have hired a web designer who is done with the website and you do not want them to access your website files anymore.
